The Industrial Revolution radically transformed gender roles by increasing family dependence on a single male breadwinner. Despite rising female educational attainment, men are still more likely to be called intelligent. America's male dominated corporate and tech elite continue to earn some of the highest salaries in the world. As a result, many harken for what I call patriarchal nostalgia.
