Expectation is born of knowledge and it's a useful expectation because it informs me about how the world works, right? It helps me make decisions because I'm utilizing the knowledge that I've gained over 25 years. The real problem with expectations is in the sense of the word where it means demands. If I demand that you behave in a particular way, then if you don't, I'm going to be upset. So by having demands that I place on reality, I'm first of all opening myself up to negative emotions, but more importantly, I'm not paying attention to reality.
