The Hangman's Final Wish
The boy's final wish, was just one tiny little ditty, a mournful dirge. Would the hangman allow it? Nice try, the sheriff called. Freddy waited as the man produced a long rope from the saddle bag and enlisted several townspeople in helping him bind himself to a thick trunk off to the side. When the notes began to play, the hooded figure began to shimmy and shake with surprise. It became the fastest song the boy had ever played. Faster and faster, with each step down from the gallows and through the clearing that had become a dance-off in a matter of minutes.
