My assumption is still at some point that either McCarthy or the number two Republican Steve Scalise or somebody in that general Republican leadership will end up being chosen as speaker. There is some element of shot in Freud or some satisfaction in seeing that the Republican Party right now is having to deal with nihilists who don't actually care very much about what their job is and really prefer to sabotage the entire government rather than make government do things.
