Pythagoras discovered that harmonious notes have whole number ratios. Notes of music that sound good have to do with whole numbers and their ratios. He also thought that the planets moved according to mathematical equations, which he's right. It actually wasn't em confirmed until kepler discovered elliptical orbits and all that stuff.
