The University of Leiden Is an Interesting Case

The university of leyden is an interesting case because it actually has a different structure from what you would find in a lutheran university. In the early seventeenth century they rebelled against the humanist programme, insisting that they wanted to be taught aristotelian works. So again, a lot of variation across our region, and there no confessional differences. But definitely in the earlier period, humanism is much more prominent. And then we move to an Aristotelian cirriculum. His is what i'd like to see from to day's undergraduates, that they would rebel against their university masters by saying, we want more aristotle.
