How to Start a Hardy Annual Cut Flower Bed

Hardy annuals are particularly dependable and abundant. They can be started off by sewing direct into the ground. This time of year is wildly unpredictable so hold off if weather or soil is cold. For bumble bees, fill an old bird box with some soft hamster bedding. Mason bees adapt small spaces such as empty snail shells by lining them with mud. Mining bees head underground. Solid tree bees have an annual life cycle. Their spring and summer will be spent building and maintaining their nest where they will lay their eggs in autumn. Sadly pretty much all bee species are under threat due to a lack of nest sites caused by habitat loss.
