The loss cause narrative says Reconstruction was a failure because black people were unprepared for freedom. Organizations like the KKK emerged because they were sort of so oppressed During reconstruction that they needed to form in order to defend their own rights. That light justifies the end of Reconstruction as this really bad period because Friedman having these rights and of course that narrative emerges.
