Mosses - The Most Successful Beings on Earth
Tiny as they are, mosses play an outsize role in supporting the lives of other beings. They purify water, build soil, store carbon and heal land after disturbance. Most humans cannot make these claims. When i see the way mosses create lush communities over the surface of a once barren rock, i think it's not so unlike our place. In the thin boundary layer between the earth's surface and the emptiness of space, everything they need is there.
