The Writers Shouldn't Direct
I feel like there's kind of this tacit thing in our business that like writers aren't entitled to direct. They're not good enough. Like instead they should like sit down and just write and then hand it off to the magical superpower director who's going to make it. I kind of just decided that I didn't believe that and I wanted to give it a shot. And I'm happy I did now that I'm in post. I feel like the voice is right because I chose to do it. You know, when you are trying to get a performance from an actor, so much of it uses my writer's brain to get to that performance.
