Heruki Murakami and the Music of Words
Murakami released his first piece in 1979, Hear the Wind Sing. In 1987, he releases Norwegian Wood and you wrote an essay for the website Neo-Japanese that said this is when he became a true phenomenon. The reason why I think it was so successful is because it's a straight realist story, as opposed to his previous works which were all not totally experimental.
