In any given living situation there is a dominant discourse. A discourse is a body of knowledge, people who have the power to pronounce things in it,. People who have a body of law. All o these things combined, decide the discursive l within which yume and everyone exist. When that discourse, combined with power, prestige, an institutional owr, forces us, without us knowing it, to modulate our behavior - we are made into docile bodies.
