This is an extreme close up of something, and i have no idea what it is. Could be a typewriter or word processor. There's something grid like about it. And the probe, again, its on the right hand side of a two page spread. Literacy, the visual technology dissolved the tribal magic by means of its stress on fragmentation and specialization, and created the individual. That's pretty straightforward prose to me. We've definitely set some of these ideas up. But then the question is, how do you get the idea of the creation of the individual from this basic idea of acoustic versus visual space?
