The Target Audience of That Talk Was the Haskell Community at Large
I think the target audience of that talk was very explicitly the Haskell community at large and specifically people who were both working on effect systems and interested in effect systems. And I found that kind of frustrating because I saw people going around saying, oh, you know, this is fast and this is slow without really knowing one, what does that mean and two, why is that the case. It's not worth it for everybody to really take the time to figure that out. But I do think that it's important for people that are working on systems like that to be serious about it and approach it with a mindset of really getting answers rather than just empirically trying things and seeing what happens.
