The Sensitivity of Blood Pressure Checks and Pregnancy
The traditional definition of hypertensive disorder and pregnancy is 140 over 90 on that least two occasions, at least four hours apart. The sensitivity of this test is not very good because you have to catch it during that vasosabastic episode, but its specificity is very good. But as a diagnostic tool at 140 or 90, that specificity is much, much better. Rory said screening has issues because, hey, your blood pressure is 120 over 80, you're fine. But that doesn't mean that they're not brewing some hypertensive disorder in the background. You just haven't been declared yet.
