Is Homeschooling a Bad Idea?

My mom homeschooled us for a while. She liked the idea that her son was so well prepared that he could test out of, you know, two levels above where he was supposed to be. So I think it was almost like her proving the worth of her home teaching. Saying when I came back to public school, I was two years ahead of my peers and I could be skipped to eighth grade when I was should have been in sixth. That's what motivated it more than anything. And I don't think I would advise anyone to do it with their kids either.
