'Sammy's Girlfriend' Was Kimno Va
Columnist james bacon was on the golf course one day, getting in a few holes with jerry lewis's publicist. Jerry lewis was filling in for sammy at the sands that week end because sammy was travelling to chicago to meet his girl friend's parents to ask their permission to propose. Bacon was shocked to hear that sammy's girl friend was kimno va. Because there had never been a public or publicized relationship between a black performer and a white movie star in hollywood to that point. It meant a page one story in every newspaper in the world.
