The Effects of Unsatisfactory Explanation on Seizures
The study was carried out in Brisbane, Australia. It looked at 25 patients with functional seizures who had been given an explanation of their type of seizure after a video EEG. In the group who received a satisfactory explanation, health care costs could be reduced from roughly $5,000 to less than $2,000 and in those eight patients who received what we thought was an unsatisfactory explanation that led to an increase of roughly $ 5,000 to more than $20,000 next year.
