Fellini's Last Performance
I loved that variety theater. I saw Julie Cruz perform there. There is also a strange upsetting historical detail to that theater. Jack Smith was a filmmaker who inspired Fellini and John Waters. And he his last act of performance art was to go to the variety theater to contract HIV. But it's just interesting because we both left New York after having pretty long runs there. It was easier to find a botry in it for me than it was here in LA. Some of my friends in New York see it as a kind of defeat. I don't at all. I see it as an door opening.
