Zola was the very first thing he worked on, converting Markdown to HTML. He says there are two kinds of template engines: compiled and interpreted. Tara is still missing some pieces, like just today when someone asked him about negative filters in Tara. But it's kind of a balance. You don't want to go crazy in terms of features, but you want to let the user be able to do most of what they actually want to do.
