Why Red Hat Starts Opensource.com?
IBM's acquisition of Red Hat looks like a huge failure, says John Defterios. He argues that if you're starting a new project as a technologist in the early to middle parts of your career and you aren't already affiliated with Red Hat, there is no reason to jump into it. "I just don't think Red Hat gets enough community goodwill to survive in the long term without doing the kind of community outreach," he says.
