The Relationship Between Esma'ilism and Philosophy

The Great Translation Movement, which really took off under the early Abbasids and really reached the peak under Esma'il-Mum. The Muslims for the first time now came into contact with other big translations of Greek works from logic, you know, with medicine and also with the metaphysics. Together were the great masters like Aristotle and Plato. These works in translation influenced a variety of Muslim scholars and thinkers. One should count amongst the foremost people who were influenced by this new kind of knowledge were Esma'Il-Mum of the Iranian lands where Neoplatonic and other philosophical traditions became fashionable among the educated classes.
