What Drew You to the Civil Rights Movement?
The 19 fifties were kind of like a vacuum in culture. A lot of young people turned off by the materialism around us. And i think that certainly brought me to that period. Although i grew up in a very mixed neighbourhood of the south bronx, and i think i probably was anti racis with my bottle. But i recognized the racism as i got a little older in my own community, and sexism too,. though i didn't understand it until the late sixties and early seventies right? Ok. So are you marking 19 67 to 19 71 as sort of an end of that era, kind of a loss of innocence moment? Not totally. I mean, literally
