What Happened in Iraq?
The idea that Western governments could be trusted to intervene abroad in order to avert genocide is one thing, but to topple a tyrannical regime is another. What was buried there wasn't just the particular position on Iraq, but in a way that view of liberal interventionism did expire in Abu Ghraib as well. Those people who previously would have been banging the drum for that just in all conscience couldn't really anymore because they had seen what had happened.
