Borehates: James was trying to write two or three stories at one time. He said the turn of the screw was just a potboiler. But I don't think that was the truth. What's important in the stories of Henry James are the situations created, not the characters. And then when asked to choose 100 books by a publisher for a personal library, Borehates chose three works by Henry James.
