How Do You See Yourself as a Poet?

Amanda gorman is a poet and runs an arts education programme in the townships surrounding cape town. She came from a background where you don't necessarily see representation of yourself unless it's negative. In her native languages, there are no pronouns for people. Some days i'm read as you sissy, which means sister, or like young women. Or some days i'm brother, or young man a. And one day i'll write a story right by writing it into to morrow on this earth, more than worth standing for.
