The Role of Functional Morphology in the Evolution of Human Movement
I went to Arizona State University from my PhD, which in the mid to late 90s was sort of a hot bed of movement science. So there was a small group of us in kinesiology and biomedical engineering who were working on musculoskeletal modeling and computer simulation. We actually have been focused mostly on doing comparative work in modern humans and chimpanzees where we can both do the modeling and get experimental data. But we're going to be returning to the fossil hominin part doing some predictive simulations with enhanced models and testing some of the prevailing ideas about how musculated morphology affects bipedal walking ability.
