The Tears of God, the Meaning of History

The tears of God mark out God's agenda for humanity. The greater are our affections, the deeper are our afflictions. And the more we love, the more we have to weep. In Psalm 39 verse 12, here my prayer, Lord, listen to my cry for help. Do you know how hard it is to see someone weep and to ignore them? I saw a woman experiencing homelessness this morning on the Upper West Side, weeping on the side of the street. I could not walk past. But here is the psalmist lifting this press to God. They are not lost to God; they are known to God.
