The Black Hole and the Galactic Disk
At the very heart of this image is Sagittarius A star. We know this is a really big black hole there and we know it generates a lot of radio waves from the gas that's swirling around it. You can see these blobs from the beginning of the galactic disc. They've plotted it in celestial coordinates which is declination versus right ascension. The north pole of the earth is not aligned with the northern pole of the galaxy. It's actually quite tilted.
