The right to live a peaceful happy, rewarding future irrespective of a painful presence or harrowing past should be absolutely seen as a fundamental right of every single person who hears voices. But what we'll certainly also be doing is shifting across the evening from the individual to the collective and from the personal to the political. I'm going to tell you a short story about a voice and a voice hero. And this is a story that starts with me leaving home for the very first time to go to university. It was an incredibly bright day. It was brimming with hope and optimism but underneath it was desperately unhappy, insecure and fundamentally frightened.
