i think the role of ethics as an enormative rule setting activity is something that ought to be owned by society. As the models get bigger and bigger inside of gogle, that means gogle alone can do that research. And so we might have ethics researchers outside who are doing this work, but they can't see the latest stuff. They can't see the harms that, in some ways, are being bt into these systems. And there's a huge gap there. Some people are really, really upset by what has happened.
