The Transformation of Palestinian Women's Embroidery
The exhibition talks about before and after 1948, the Arab-Israeli War. How did it change Palestinian women's embroidery? The NACBA was this moment of major dispossession displacement. Women were suddenly divorced from their productive lives in agriculture. They no longer had access to the same materials that they had before. Many were living in refugee camps,. so that regional variety began to change the form of the dress homogenised.
