The Rise in Rein of the Mammals

A six mile wide asteroid fell out of the sky, smashed into the earthwith force of over a billion nuclear bombs put to get together. Dinosaurs could not cope with that; they had been dominant for well over a dred million years. But you know what? Could some mammals. They ballooned in body size to literally take over those ecological rolls from the dinosaurs. And it's an amazing thing to think about, that we had ancestors that stared down that asteroid and got through that asteroid.
