The Scientific Revolution
The interest in alchemy, which was seen as a learneda craft, or learned art in the middle ages, became even more popular. Some scholars theorize that the scientific revolution came about because these two separate spheres of knowledge finally came together. For this reason, i hope it's clear how ironic it is that we to day might call the middle ages the dark age. It certainly was an era in which most people were illiterate and had little access to learned circles.
