Bulgaria joined the European Union in 2007 and many good things have happened since. But nevertheless, there are a lot of people who feel as they were the losers of this major change in our country's history. And it seems very few in the Bulgarian press or judicial system would question how a career politician with an annual salary of 50,000 US dollars had millions of euros worth of gold and notes in his bedside draws. These stories to me pretty won't echo the stories of the in late Soviet era in Bulgaria when corruption was pretty rife but that era is well in the past now.
