The economy doesn't just produce stuff it produces all sorts of particular things. Trying to ramp up production rapidly in one area you may hit supply constraints and see rising prices even while there's a lot of slack in other areas. In that sense limiting total spending is neither necessary nor sufficient to deal with inflation, he says.
