The Rise and Fall of the Thermadorians
When Napoleon arrived in Paris in 1795, the mood of revolutionary austerity was over. People stopped feeling quite so guilty about attending lavish parties while men suffered and died at the front. The upper classes once again felt comfortable showing off their wealth. A subculture of outright fops and dandies emerged. You could identify them by their extra-gaudy, colorful clothes and fussly-coft hair. Just like in politics and philosophy, both sexes modeled themselves after the Romans.
