robert moses had begun his career at the state level. Had worked with governor al smith during the 19 twenties on reforming the new york state government, wa back when leguardia was in congress and jimmy walker was mayor. In that position then, he had developed some of his parks and parkway projects out on long island,. including massive jones beach, which opened in the summer of 19 29  and welcomed an astonishing 25 thousand visitors on its opening day.
