The Importance of Permission Slips in Relationships
"I've been talking about sex in relationships for 30 years, and the end result is people having less sex," says John Sutter. "What I've always been, when I sit and think about it, is permissive." Half his job seems to be passing out permission slips: Yes, you can seek sex elsewhere when your partner is done with sex; No, you don't have to end a relationship over shitty sex. But being permissive also means giving people permission not to do the things they don't want to do.
