When Lin Zeshu shut down the entire trade with Canton, ship loads of British textiles were waiting offshore unable to unload their goods. That played an even greater role in starting the war than just sort of the confiscation of opium. The political power of the manufacturing districts was magnitudes greater than that of these old Paltry opium traders going back and forth from India to China.
