An Introduction to Digital Computers

analogue computers determined answers to complex mathematical problems using rotating cams, ball bearings and rather ingenious mechanisms. There were three main types of analogue computers: mechanical, electro-mechanical and electronic. Given that contemporary digital computers are also electronic, it's particularly instructive to compare how such different computational types use similar technology.
