CHAPTER

The Importance of Consistent Systematic Theory

If you have a consistent systematic theory of how the world works then you would approach teaching that child differently than if they had fragmented knowledge. People tend to have some resistance to changing their theories and actually this is often found for example in university courses at least in the United States. You've got to find the specific misconceptions that they have and consider those to be the weaknesses in their model. Then point to or target those things in particular target those parts and then they will be forced to rearrange their theory in order to make up for the fact that that specific key area is the thing that they got something wrong in but that's something where you have more resistance.
