The Sri Lankan government already has deep ties with Beijing having taken huge loans from them a few years ago. There are talks at the moment to allow China to build a large scale naval base on the Sri Lankan coast in exchange for some debt relief. Do you think this signals a further shift towards Beijing for the Sri Lanka government or is it just a consequence of being in so much debt to China?
