Wilde and the Decadent Movement
Oscar Wilde was the poster boy for aestheticism in the 1880s, and he was now the posterBoy for decadence in the 1890s. He worked out rather before Adamant did that ridicule is nothing to be scared of. The moral outrage took the form of light parody, as Neil's mentioned, George de Morio in punch, lampooned the Eastteats in Gilbert and Sullivan. It's only really in 1895 that things take a darker turn.
