Nietzsche's Paradox of the Snake

Nietzsche often writes aphorism where he plays on the etymology of the word. When we feel pangs of conscience in German, we feel the sting or the bite of conscience - both of which could be applied to like a snake. The snake represents the conscious understanding of good and evil is forcing itself down our throat and it's that's choking us. Nietzsche says you have to bite back.
