It's very hard to have a bad trip on MDMA if you're taking it in a recreational setting. One thing I learned while reporting this book that I thought was really interesting is your heart rate on MDMA is the same as like the beats per minute as the average house music track. So it seems like early house music DJs plugged right into that somehow they intuited it, which is really cool. There are reports of people going to a club and having repressed trauma suddenly come to the surface of their mind and having a bad experience there. But that's pretty rare.
