Avis Budget and Hertz both reported better than expected third quarter results. Shares of avis budget were up 160% at one point, but are now only up 90%. Avis is generating about 83 dollars per car per day in revenues right now - which should tell you all you need to know about the pain of renting a car. About 37 % of the shareswer were held short prior to the announcement.
