The form of the poem is reminiscent of Robert Louis Stevenson's Penny Whistles or a child's garden versus and Kipling's The Seven Seas. Skull's song first appeared in a 19-issue of the Occident and later a gun in GenevieveTaggered's collection, Hawaiian Hilltop, published in 1923. And Genevieves background to a radical poet published in the Hawaiian Journal of History, Volume 49 in 2015.
