For many writers with an audience, it is better for them to not take an advance. It changes the deal in terms of the percentage that you get from substack while you 're in the deal. So for people who are going to grow a lot, in many cases, it could be better for they to start with the deal that's available to everybody. I hope i haven't caused more confusion than clarity. But the important thing to know is, if somebody is leaving the conventional writing world and they need an advance  that really is the purpose and intention of pro.
