How Complex Trauma Affects Relational Development
Before Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans came, I had an attorney call me about some adults who had recovered memories of being abused in a Catholic orphanage in the 1950s. And they had started to recover memories. So I ended up doing forensic testing on maybe 30 adults. The ones who were securely attached, who were abused, had post-traumatic stress and anxiety conditions. None of them had a personality disorder or major dissociative disorder. They also didn't have multiple addictive behaviors.
